Preparation before the visit

Before leaving, staff need a clear purpose, a way to report a change of plan and an understanding of when to seek support. Training explores warning signs visible at the building entrance and the door, as well as communication with a colleague. We use anonymised examples from probation work.

A conversation at the door

A probation officer may face refusal to cooperate, rising tension or the arrival of another person. Scenarios address calm communication, setting boundaries, keeping an exit available and deciding to end a conversation. There is no single guaranteed technique; the focus is on choosing a response appropriate to the circumstances.

When the encounter becomes unsafe

Participants compare options for limiting contact, leaving, calling for help and reporting under the relevant procedure. Selected movement exercises explore how to regain enough space to leave if personal distance is breached. The goal is not to confront the person being supervised.

Learning as a team

After a scenario, we review the decision point, the information passed on and factual recording after an incident. This supports a shared approach across the probation team. We run training for courts and probation staff in Szczecin and West Pomerania. Tell us the group size and the situations you would like to address.
